The Promotora Program assists in creating a community network that promotes, educates, and advocates accessible services and supports through a culturally relevant method. The program requires developing and supporting partnerships between formal service systems and informal supports in the community. The goal is for the Promotora or community liaison to be a link between the two groups and increase communication, service, and support.

The promotora or community liaison has four goals/tasks:

a) promote a healthy neighborhood through provision of informal support services and linkages to formal service delivery systems.

b) educate community residents on available resources and/or specific topics.

c) provide advocacy to improve services and access to them

d) build leadership in the neighborhood through increased capacity and knowledge of services.
